About the Book:

Hold that thought lest it disappear like seawater through your fingers

~ ~ ~

Hold That Thought is a collection of short stories sparked by vivid recollections and the discovery of a wonderful new café in the restored pavilion of the old Dún Laoghaire Baths.

While it encompasses fiction and history, the writing is mainly creative, while also having some factual input.

Although there is no over-riding common theme, certain tropes repeat throughout the book.

Call it an assortment if you will, but the variety is deliberate and designed to appeal across a broad spectrum.

Irish settings such as Dún Laoghaire (Kingstown), Dublin City and the West of Ireland, provide familiar local grounds, with New York and the Algarve as international settings.

Birds are a prominent feature of the illustrations, which draw on the author’s photographic experience.

About the Author:

Dr Johanna Lowry O’Reilly is an historian with a background in photography, journalism, and public relations. She gained her PhD in Modern Irish History from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). Creative writing is an extension of her portfolio, with the current short stories providing a contrast to historic research. This is her first book in the fiction genre.

Johanna was married to the late RTE broadcaster, Brendan O’Reilly; they have one daughter and two sons.
